Loud Bus Tyre Burst Triggers Panic in Delhi’s Mahipalpur Area

A loud explosion-like sound from a bus tyre burst caused panic in the Mahipalpur area of southwest Delhi on the morning of November 13, 2023. This incident occurred shortly after a devastating explosion in the crowded Red Fort area on November 10, which resulted in the deaths of 13 people and left several others injured.

Emergency services were alerted to the noise at 09:19 AM. The Delhi Fire Services responded promptly, deploying three fire tenders to investigate the source of the sound near the Radisson hotel in Mahipalpur. Despite extensive checks, officials found no evidence of any explosion or threat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Southwest Delhi, Amit Goel, confirmed the situation was under control. “The caller, who reported the incident, indicated that he heard a loud noise while traveling to Gurugram,” Goel stated. He assured the public that after thorough investigations, nothing concerning was discovered.

During the local inquiry, a security guard informed police that the sound originated from the rear tyre of a DTC bus heading towards Dhaula Kuan. The guard’s information helped clarify the cause of the alarm, alleviating concerns among residents about a potential security threat.

Authorities emphasized that the situation was normal and urged the public to remain calm. Following the recent tragic events at the Red Fort, any loud noise understandably raises alarm, but officials reassured the community that there was no cause for worry this time.
