J-K Police Seek Interpol Red Notice for Doctor Linked to Terror Case
Jammu and Kashmir police have formally approached Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against Dr. Muzaffar, a physician based in Qazigund. This action follows the dismantling of an interstate ‘white collar’ terror module earlier this week, according to police officials on Thursday.
Dr. Muzaffar is the brother of Dr. Adeel, one of eight individuals arrested in connection with the terror investigation linked to the recent Red Fort blast. Of the eight detentions, seven suspects hail from Kashmir. Dr. Muzaffar’s name emerged during the interrogation of those apprehended, with investigators indicating he was part of a group of doctors who traveled to Turkiye in 2021.
Details of the Investigation
Officials revealed that Dr. Muzaffar was associated with Muzammil Ganaie and Umar Nabi, who drove the explosives-laden vehicle that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 13, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 13 people. Following the attack, police attempted to locate Dr. Muzaffar, only to discover he had departed India for Dubai in August. He is currently believed to be in Afghanistan.
The investigation continues to unfold as authorities work to piece together the connections between the suspects and their activities. The three doctors involved in the trip to Turkiye spent a total of 21 days there, raising questions about the purpose of their visit and any possible links to the recent violence.
International Reactions
In response to media reports suggesting a connection between Turkiye and terrorist activities in India, the Turkish Directorate of Communications has issued a statement. They categorically denied claims that their territory is being used for radicalization efforts. The Directorate described the allegations as part of a “malicious disinformation campaign” aimed at undermining diplomatic relations between Turkey and India.
The statement emphasized that claims of Turkiye engaging in radicalization activities targeting India or any other nation lack factual support. This denial highlights the complexities of international relations amid ongoing investigations into terror activities.
As the situation develops, Jammu and Kashmir police remain focused on apprehending Dr. Muzaffar and further unraveling the network involved in this alarming case. The international community will be watching closely as authorities seek to address the implications of these events.
