Astronomers Detect Most Powerful Black Hole Flare Ever Recorded
Astronomers have made a groundbreaking discovery by detecting the most powerful black hole flare ever recorded. This extraordinary event originated from the galaxy J2245+3743, situated approximately 10 billion light-years from Earth. The flare’s energy output surpassed anything previously observed, marking it as the most luminous flare in the universe.
At its peak, the black hole flare emitted energy equivalent to 10 trillion times that of our Sun, briefly outshining the total light of its host galaxy. Such unprecedented intensity sets a new standard for understanding black hole phenomena and cosmic extremes. The flare was caused by a star about 30 times the mass of the Sun, which was torn apart during a tidal-disruption event (TDE) by the supermassive black hole’s immense gravitational forces.
