Giriraj Singh Criticizes Mahagathbandhan as Bihar Elections Approach

Union Minister Giriraj Singh has launched a pointed critique of the opposition alliance known as the Mahagathbandhan, branding it a collection of “ticket-selling parties” ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. Singh’s remarks come as the political landscape heats up in the state, where elections are set to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, 2025.
During a recent address, Singh asserted that the campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will play a pivotal role in undermining the Mahagathbandhan coalition. He stated, “PM Narendra Modi will address a gathering of lakhs of people and kickstart the election campaigning in Begusarai and Samastipur. After that, all ‘vote cutter’ and ‘ticket seller’ parties in Mahagathbandhan will collapse.” His comments underline the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) strategy to establish a significant lead in the election.
Singh expressed confidence that the NDA would achieve a historic victory, emphasizing that rallies organized during this campaign will expose what he termed the “ticket-selling politics” of the Mahagathbandhan. This coalition, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), includes prominent parties such as the Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
As the NDA gears up for the election, Tejashwi Yadav has been announced as the chief ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan. His selection is viewed as a strategic move to rally support against the NDA, which comprises the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The upcoming assembly elections will not only set the stage for the political future of Bihar but also serve as a litmus test for national parties ahead of the 2024 general elections. In addition to the major alliances, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has also made claims to contest all 243 seats in the state, further complicating the electoral landscape.
The results of the Bihar assembly elections will be declared on November 14, 2025, marking a significant moment in the political timeline of the region. As campaigning intensifies, all eyes will be on how the strategies deployed by both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan resonate with voters across the state.
