IIIT Bhagalpur Honors ‘Unnati’ Volunteers for Digital Empowerment

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhagalpur celebrated the achievements of ten exemplary volunteers from the student-led initiative ‘Unnati’ on March 14, 2024. The event recognized their exceptional contributions towards promoting digital awareness and educational empowerment among school children in the region.
The ceremony, chaired by Director Madhusudan Singh, highlighted the collaborative efforts between Unnati volunteers and local government schools. The principals from eight schools were also honored with mementos for their unwavering support and partnership with the Unnati Society. This recognition underscores the vital role of educational institutions in fostering community engagement and support for underprivileged students.
During the event, faculty members and students of IIIT Bhagalpur expressed their admiration for the volunteers’ dedication. The Unnati initiative focuses on empowering children through digital education, career guidance, and foundational learning courses. These efforts have not only equipped the children with essential skills but also helped them build confidence and adapt to modern educational tools.
The impact of Unnati extends beyond academics. Volunteers have actively promoted awareness of important social issues, including cleanliness, women’s hygiene, and health education. Their initiatives foster empathy and encourage a sense of responsibility among the participating children.
This recognition ceremony serves as a testament to the positive influence that student-led initiatives can have on local communities. By bridging the gap between technology and education, Unnati is making significant strides towards a more equitable future for the youth of Bhagalpur. The collaboration between IIIT Bhagalpur and local schools sets a valuable precedent for similar initiatives across the country.
In conclusion, the efforts of the Unnati volunteers highlight the transformative power of education and community involvement. As they continue to inspire change, their work exemplifies the essential role of digital literacy in shaping the futures of underprivileged children. The support from educational institutions and government schools further amplifies the impact of these initiatives, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.
