Anita Dongre Launches Flagship Store in Beverly Hills
Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre has made history by opening her flagship store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, becoming the first Indian designer to achieve this milestone. The boutique, located on Wilshire Boulevard, covers an impressive 3,000 sq. ft. and represents Dongre’s fourth international location, following established stores in New York City and Dubai. This expansion highlights her growing global influence in the promotion of Indian craftsmanship.
Inside the store, visitors will find a captivating environment that embodies the essence of modern-day Rajasthan. The boutique features hand-painted Pichhwai murals, embroidered textiles, bespoke wallpapers, and handcrafted furnishings, all of which are the result of the meticulous work of artisans from across India. This careful curation blends traditional Indian craft with contemporary design, creating a distinct shopping experience.
A standout feature of the Beverly Hills flagship is a life-sized sculpture of an elephant matriarch and calf, part of The Great Elephant Migration, an international art initiative focused on sustainability and indigenous craftsmanship. Crafted from invasive lantana weeds by Indian artisan communities, this installation serves to raise awareness of both environmental and social issues through the medium of art.
In her remarks during the launch event, Dongre emphasized the significance of the store, stating, “For me, bringing this store to Beverly Hills is more than just a milestone in fashion. It’s about honoring the hands of skilled women artisans and sharing their stories with the world.”
The opening event was co-hosted by well-known actress and producer Mindy Kaling alongside Poorna Jagannathan, a star of the popular series “Never Have I Ever.” The occasion also attracted a host of notable attendees, including Jay Shetty, Payal Kadakia, Richa Moorjani, Deepica Mutyala, and Nidhi Sunil. The evening showcased Dongre’s unique fusion of luxury and culture, where Indian artistry seamlessly meets global design sensibilities.
Anita Dongre’s commitment to sustainable fashion and the empowerment of rural women has long been a hallmark of her brand. With the opening of her Beverly Hills flagship, she continues to promote Indian design and craftsmanship to international audiences, reinforcing her position as a leader in the global fashion industry.
