Wellness Campaign Launches to Transform Daily Activities into Health Solutions
The Yog Manav Vikas Trust, in collaboration with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd and Patanjali Yogpeeth, launched the “Swasthya Mitra Abhiyan” on NHPC Day, which took place on October 20, 2023. This initiative aims to promote a healthier lifestyle by transforming everyday activities into forms of preventive therapy, steering individuals away from dependency on medication.
During the inauguration at the NHPC Regional Office, NHPC Executive Director Om Prakash and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anil Bhardwaj were present, along with representatives from the Trust and health advocates. The launch was attended virtually by participants from various cities, including Kanpur, Bhopal, Dehradun, New Delhi, Faridabad, and Haridwar.
A key component of the campaign was the collective reading of the “Swasthya Sankalp Patra,” which reaffirms the participants’ commitment to self-discipline and the promotion of wellness. The Trust underscored the long-standing Indian philosophy that views the human body as a self-regulating system capable of maintaining health without constant medical intervention. According to Trust chairperson Kiran Dodoma, this tradition has been a part of Indian culture for thousands of years and is reflected in yogic practices.
The campaign seeks to address contemporary lifestyle disorders by correcting daily habits that adversely affect health. Issues such as poor sleep patterns, incorrect sitting and standing postures, lack of physical activity, unhealthy dietary choices, and excessive mobile phone usage have been highlighted as key contributors to these disorders. The initiative intends to educate individuals on healthier practices related to speaking, eating, hydration, breathing, observational skills, and general conduct, emphasizing that these actions can either support wellness or lead to disease.
With over 10,000 individuals already engaged with the campaign’s message through its supporters, the Trust plans to expand the initiative phase-wise across schools, colleges, local councils, and various media platforms. The Swasthya Mitra Abhiyan is designed to run throughout 2026, with the potential for further extension to foster a nationwide movement focused on holistic health, awareness, and drug-free living.
This campaign represents a significant push towards encouraging individuals to take personal responsibility for their health, drawing upon ancient wisdom while addressing modern challenges. Through its comprehensive approach, the Swasthya Mitra Abhiyan aims to inspire a shift in how people view their daily routines and overall wellness.
