Veteran Actor Graham Greene Passes Away at 73 After Illness

Acclaimed actor Graham Greene has died at the age of 73, following a prolonged illness. His passing was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by his agent, Michael Greene, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “He was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed,” Greene stated, adding a touching remark about the actor’s longtime agent, Susan Smith, who passed away in 2013. “You are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven.”
From Humble Beginnings to Hollywood Fame
Born on June 22, 1952, in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve, Graham Greene was a prominent figure in the film industry. He graduated from the Centre for Indigenous Theatre Program in 1974 and made his television debut in the 1979 Canadian drama series The Great Detective. His film career began with Running Brave in 1983, but it was his role as Kicking Bird in the award-winning film Dances With Wolves (1990) that garnered significant acclaim. This performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and contributed to the film’s impressive tally of 12 Oscar nominations, ultimately winning seven, including Best Picture.
Greene’s career spanned several decades, during which he appeared in a variety of notable films. His impressive filmography includes roles in popular titles such as Maverick (1994), Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995), The Green Mile (1999), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), and Molly’s Game (2017), directed by Aaron Sorkin.
