Chennai Marathon 2026 Unveils T-Shirt and Medal Ahead of Event
The Freshworks Chennai Marathon 2026 is set to be a major event in the city’s sporting calendar, with a launch event unveiling the official T-shirt and medal. The unveiling took place on January 4, 2026, with Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, present to mark the occasion. This 14th edition of the marathon, organized by Chennai Runners and powered by Ashok Leyland, is expected to attract over 25,000 runners from various backgrounds, including elite athletes and first-time participants.
At the ceremony, Udhayanidhi Stalin commended the marathon’s organizers and participants, celebrating its growth and the community’s support over the years. “I wish all success to the organizers and participants,” he stated, highlighting the event’s significance in promoting fitness and health within the community.
Exciting Race Categories and Scenic Routes
The Freshworks Chennai Marathon 2026 will feature four distinct race categories: the Full Marathon (42.195 Km), the Perfect 20 Miler (32.186 Km), the Half Marathon (21.097 Km), and a 10 Km Run. This variety caters to runners of different fitness levels, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all participants. The marathon will commence from the iconic Napier Bridge, with a route that showcases Chennai’s picturesque landscapes and urban landmarks, culminating at the Indian Maritime University.
The marathon’s route is designed to enhance the running experience, winding along the East Coast Road, and offering stunning views that highlight the city’s unique charm. With athletes from 16 countries already confirmed, the event promises to be a vibrant spectacle, drawing spectators and supporters from across the region.
A Commitment to Community and Sustainability
Since its inception, the Chennai marathon has seen consistent growth, becoming a hallmark of the city’s sporting culture. The event not only promotes fitness but also fosters a sense of community and social responsibility. This year, the marathon will support various social initiatives, including education, healthcare, and the arts, showcasing its commitment to making a positive impact.
The success of the marathon can be attributed to the collaboration between key partners, including the Greater Chennai Police, Tambaram Commissionerate, and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. These partnerships ensure a smooth experience for participants and help maintain safety and organization throughout the event.
Race Director V P Senthil Kumar expressed gratitude for the Deputy Chief Minister’s involvement, stating, “It is a great honour for us that the Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the marathon T-shirts and Finishers medal today. With the support of our sponsors, partners, and the public, we look forward to a successful 14th edition next year.”
