Kishkindapuri Earns ₹2.5 Crore on Second Day, Faces Tough Competition
The horror film Kishkindapuri, featuring actors Bellamkonda Srinivas and Anupama Parameswaran, collected ₹2.5 crore on its second day at the box office in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This marks a slight increase from the ₹2 crore it earned on opening day. Despite the anticipation surrounding its release, the film has struggled to resonate with audiences, according to insights from a prominent distributor.
The distributor noted that while Bellamkonda Srinivas aimed to deliver a captivating horror thriller, the film’s connection with viewers has been lacking. Anupama Parameswaran, who recently experienced a setback with her film Paradha, takes on a unique role in Kishkindapuri and reportedly delivers a nuanced performance.
Challenges and Competition in the Box Office
Both lead actors are in need of a successful film, as they rely on positive word of mouth to boost their collections in the following days. The distributor emphasized the importance of audience reception, stating, “Both Bellamkonda and Anupama need a hit, and they’re banking on positive word of mouth to push collections in the coming days.”
In contrast, the romantic comedy Little Hearts continues to dominate the box office, amassing over ₹20 crore in net collections. This success adds pressure on Kishkindapuri, as the competition in theatres intensifies. Furthermore, Tejja Sajja‘s film Mirai has also opened strongly, attracting consistent audiences and making the competitive landscape even more challenging for Kishkindapuri.
The performance of these films reflects a dynamic shift in audience preferences, highlighting the difficulties faced by Kishkindapuri in a crowded marketplace. As the weekend progresses, it remains to be seen whether the film can improve its standing and attract more viewers.
