Police Arrest Two Suspected Tajpuria Gang Operatives in Delhi
Two suspected operatives of the notorious Tajpuria gang have been arrested in Delhi after police successfully foiled a planned murder. The arrests took place as law enforcement intensified their operations against gang activities in the area, leading to the discovery of illegal firearms.
According to police officials, the two suspects, identified as Parth and Vikrant, had recently joined the Tajpuria gang and were operating under the direction of a gang leader named Amit. Investigators revealed that Amit provided them with weapons, cash, and a target for elimination. The Tajpuria gang is known for its involvement in contract killings, extortion, and armed assaults across Delhi and its neighbouring states.
The police action commenced following a week-long operation aimed at enhancing surveillance on gang-related activities and intercepting illegal arms trafficking in the district. Officers received actionable intelligence on the night of November 4-5, 2023, which indicated that two young men from Ambrahi Village had been recruited by the Tajpuria gang and were armed.
A tactical team was quickly assembled and deployed near Dhulsiras Chowk. Around midnight, officers intercepted Parth, who was riding a black motorcycle later identified as stolen from the jurisdiction of the Dwarka South police station. A search of Parth’s belongings uncovered a country-made pistol loaded with one live cartridge. Police also seized his mobile phone, which reportedly contained the Zangi app, an encrypted communication platform frequently used by gang members to avoid detection by law enforcement.
Following Parth’s arrest, investigators tracked down his associate Vikrant, apprehending him on November 7 in Ambrahi Village. Like Parth, Vikrant was found in possession of a country-made pistol and an additional cartridge. Dwarka DCP Ankit Singh stated that during questioning, Parth admitted to having personal enmities in his village, which led him to the gang with the intent to eliminate rivals.
Vikrant, a cleaner by profession, was reportedly enticed to join the gang with promises of easy money. DCP Singh noted that Vikrant confirmed his association with Parth and acknowledged his involvement in gang activities.
The arrests have significantly impacted ongoing investigations, helping to crack two cases: an electronic FIR registered on October 28 under Section 305(b) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and another lodged on November 5 under the Arms Act at the Sector 23 police station. The seized firearms and ammunition have been sent for forensic analysis, and the stolen motorcycle has been returned to its rightful owner.
Authorities are proceeding with further investigations to verify the suspects’ claims, identify their associates, and trace the broader network of the Tajpuria gang within Dwarka. Particular attention is being given to the gang’s use of encrypted communication platforms to evade law enforcement scrutiny.
