Villagers Set Man Ablaze Over Alleged Theft in Telangana

A **22-year-old man** was reportedly set ablaze by a group of villagers in **Vadiyaram**, located in **Medak district** of **Telangana**, after being accused of attempting to steal a motorcycle. The incident unfolded during the night of **October 3-4, 2023**, and the man is currently in critical condition at a state-run hospital in **Hyderabad**.

According to police reports, the man and an accomplice arrived in the village on their motorcycle. After parking their vehicle, they allegedly attempted to take another motorcycle belonging to a villager. Upon noticing this, a group of villagers apprehended the two men, accusing them of theft.

As tensions escalated, the situation turned violent. Reports indicate that the villagers tied the young man to an electric pole with a rope, poured petrol from a bottle found in his pocket, and set him on fire. Following the attack, the villagers transported the severely burned man to a nearby police station, where authorities quickly arranged for his transfer to a hospital in **Hyderabad**. He has suffered **70 percent burns**, as confirmed by medical personnel.

Police officials have recorded the man’s statement, which has led to the filing of a case against the assailants for attempted murder. In connection with the incident, three villagers were arrested and placed in judicial remand on **October 5, 2023**.
