Devastating Fire in Shimla Village Displaces Eight Families

A significant fire in Badvi village, located in the Kotkhai tehsil of Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, has left eight families homeless. The blaze erupted on October 25, 2023, and officials confirmed that while there was substantial property damage, no casualties were reported.

The fire destroyed multiple houses belonging to local residents, including those of Joban Dass and his brothers Pratap Singh, Balvir Singh, and Suresh Kumar. The estimated financial loss from the fire stands at approximately ₹2.5 crore.

Upon noticing the flames, local residents quickly attempted to extinguish the fire and alerted the fire department. Fire tenders were dispatched from Kotkhai to assist in controlling the situation. Fire department personnel, working alongside community members, managed to bring the fire under control.

Investigation and Relief Efforts Underway

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. Approximately 50 rooms have been completely destroyed, significantly impacting the affected families. In response to the disaster, local authorities are providing relief to those displaced by the fire.
