Tottenham Targets Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers for January Move
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly considering a significant move for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers in the upcoming January transfer window. This interest comes amid an uncertain future for his teammate, Emiliano Martínez, after a potential transfer to Manchester United fell through. The latest developments reflect the ongoing dynamics in the Premier League as clubs assess their rosters and future strategies.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham is preparing to make an audacious bid for Rogers, who is currently valued at £100 million. Despite Villa’s recent struggles with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, Spurs are keen to strengthen their midfield options. Chelsea is also monitoring the situation closely, indicating that multiple top clubs recognize Rogers’ potential. The 23-year-old is currently on international duty with England, having made his debut last year.
In light of the failed transfer, Martínez is set to return to Aston Villa’s squad after being excluded from the lineup during their recent 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The Athletic reported that while the Argentine goalkeeper was a target for Manchester United towards the end of the transfer window, no official offer was made, leading the club to sign Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp instead. His immediate future at Villa remains uncertain, as how he responds upon returning from international duty will influence his reintegration into the team.
Aston Villa’s challenges come at a time when other clubs are also navigating complex transfer scenarios. Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, is working to keep hold of Andrey Santos, who has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League. Al-Qadsiah recently made a bid of £59.5 million for the Brazilian midfielder, but Santos is keen to remain in Europe as he prepares for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Sevilla is looking to clear salary space to sign Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, who is currently without a club after departing Al Duhail earlier this summer. The Spanish club needs to offload a goalkeeper to make this transfer financially viable. Ziyech has previously played for prominent clubs including Chelsea and Ajax, indicating he could be a valuable addition to Sevilla.
On another note, Everton is set to initiate discussions with their star goalkeeper Jordan Pickford regarding a new contract. His current deal runs until June 2027, but the 31-year-old has expressed a desire to remain at Goodison Park beyond that. Having been with Everton since 2017 and appearing in 296 Premier League matches, his continuity is seen as crucial for the club.
As the January transfer window approaches, the football world remains abuzz with speculation. Reports indicate that Tottenham could allow Yves Bissouma to leave if a suitable offer materializes, with Saudi Arabia being a potential destination. Additionally, Crystal Palace is open to offers for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who was the subject of a failed bid from Rangers last month.
The transfer landscape continues to evolve, with clubs assessing their needs and opportunities. As these rumors develop, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks.
