T20 World Cup 2026 Tickets Go on Sale December 11
Tickets for the eagerly anticipated 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be available for purchase starting December 11 at 18:45 IST. This tournament, which features an expanded format with 20 teams, is set to kick off on February 7, 2026, across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that during the first phase of ticket sales, prices will begin at an accessible rate of ₹100 in India and LKR1000 in Sri Lanka. Sanjog Gupta, the CEO of ICC, emphasized the organization’s commitment to ensuring that cricket is accessible to fans from all walks of life. He stated, “Our vision for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is clear: every fan should have the chance to access an in-stadia experience of world-class marquee cricket.”
Format and Groups for the 2026 Tournament
The 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup will include a total of 55 matches, played at eight key venues—five in India and three in Sri Lanka. The tournament will maintain the group format established in the previous edition in 2024, with teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, which will subsequently be divided into two groups of four.
The groups for the upcoming tournament are as follows:
– **Group A**: India, Pakistan, Namibia, Netherlands, and USA.
– **Group B**: Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman.
– **Group C**: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Italy.
– **Group D**: South Africa, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Canada, and UAE.
India enters the tournament as the defending champions, having won the 2024 edition without losing a match. They clinched the title by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final held in Barbados. This victory marked India’s second T20 World Cup title, elevating them to join the ranks of England and West Indies, both of which have also won the tournament twice. India’s first victory came in the inaugural edition in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni, while the 2024 title was secured under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
