Christ School Celebrates Annual Sports Day with Awards Ceremony

The Annual Sports Meet at Christ School, Manipal, concluded with a vibrant valedictory ceremony on December 17, 2023. The event celebrated the achievements of students who participated in various sports activities, fostering both competition and camaraderie among the school community.

Encouragement for Active Participation

The ceremony featured Husensab, the sub-inspector of traffic police in Udupi, as the chief guest. In his address, he stressed the significance of balancing academics with sports. He urged students to engage in physical activities and limit excessive mobile phone usage, emphasizing that a well-rounded lifestyle contributes to personal development.

“Participation in sports is not just about winning; it’s about building character and discipline,” Husensab said. He also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of following traffic rules, reinforcing the necessity of safety for all.

Fr. Romeo Lewis, the correspondent of the school, echoed these sentiments by advising students to cultivate discipline in their daily lives. Eliza Vaz, the principal, warmly welcomed guests and highlighted the role of sports in promoting teamwork and resilience among students.

Celebrating Achievements and Community Spirit

The event culminated in the distribution of prizes and trophies to the winners of various competitions. Shanthi, a teacher, announced the names of the prize winners, celebrating their achievements and encouraging others to strive for excellence in future events.

Students from classes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 showcased their talent with a lively group dance, adding a festive atmosphere to the proceedings. The presence of the school management, parents, teachers, and non-teaching staff contributed to the sense of community at the event.

The ceremony was compered by teachers Sumalatha and Divya T, who guided the audience through the program, while Reshma Suares proposed the vote of thanks, recognizing the efforts of everyone involved in making the sports day a success.
