Auburn University has announced the relocation of its home game against Baylor University in 2026 to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This decision is part of a strategic partnership with the Aflac Kickoff Game, aimed at creating Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for Auburn student-athletes. This initiative marks a significant advancement in college football, as it represents the first instance of a neutral-site game being leveraged for NIL benefits.

The collaboration with the Peach Bowl will enable Auburn players to engage in promotional appearances to support ticket sales and related events. Auburn’s athletic director, John Cohen, emphasized the importance of this arrangement, stating, “Any time we have the ability to advance Auburn student-athletes’ ability to earn third-party NIL compensation, we will take that opportunity.” He further noted that competing on a national stage against a “Power Four” opponent in a premier neutral-site game will enhance both the financial prospects and brand visibility for student-athletes.

Details of the Game and Ticket Allocation

The matchup between Auburn and Baylor is set for September 2026 and will be only the sixth meeting between the two teams since 1954. The all-time series stands at 2-2-1, following Auburn’s victory over Baylor in their season opener this year, which ended with a score of 38-24.

Auburn will receive an allocation of 20,645 tickets for the game, while Baylor will be allotted the standard 3,000 tickets designated for visiting teams. The remaining tickets will be sold through the Aflac Kickoff Game, providing further opportunities for fan engagement and revenue generation.

This strategic move not only positions Auburn to capitalize on NIL opportunities but also enhances the visibility of college football as a whole. As NIL agreements continue to reshape the landscape of college athletics, Auburn’s decision serves as a model for other programs seeking similar advantages in a rapidly evolving environment.

With this game in Atlanta, Auburn is set to take a significant step forward, showcasing its commitment to supporting its student-athletes while reinforcing the value of college football in the broader sports community.
