Union Minister Jitendra Singh Unveils Nuclear Energy Bill 2025

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, is set to present the proposed legislation titled The Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill, 2025, in the Lok Sabha. This significant move, scheduled for Wednesday, aims to encourage the development and safe utilization of nuclear energy across various sectors.

The bill seeks to promote the use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation not only for power generation but also for applications in healthcare, agriculture, industry, research, and environmental protection. A key aspect of this legislation is the establishment of a robust regulatory framework to ensure safe and secure utilization of nuclear resources. Singh will also request the House to consider and pass the bill during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

In addition to Singh’s initiative, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, another Union Minister, will introduce the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025, on the same day. This proposed legislation aims to create a rural development framework aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. It seeks to provide a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment each financial year to every rural household whose adult members are willing to engage in unskilled manual work.

The legislation emphasizes the empowerment and growth of rural communities, promoting convergence and saturation for a prosperous and resilient rural India. Chouhan will also move for the bill’s consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha.

Parliament’s Busy Legislative Agenda

The Lok Sabha’s agenda for Wednesday is packed, featuring two major bills slated for consideration and passage. The day will commence at 11 am with the Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers by various ministers. Among those presenting documents will be Jitendra Singh, who oversees several ministries, including Science and Technology and Atomic Energy.

Other ministers also scheduled to lay papers include Arjun Ram Meghwal (Parliamentary Affairs), Jitin Prasada (Electronics and IT), and Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (Communications). The House will also address matters under Rule 377 throughout the day.

The legislative agenda underscores the government’s commitment to advancing significant policies that impact both urban and rural populations.
