SRM Medical College Unveils Subhiksha Health Card to Expand Care Access

The SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCH&RC) has launched the Subhiksha Health Card as part of its initiative to enhance healthcare accessibility. This program aims to provide medical services to 100,000 individuals during its initial phase. The health card encompasses a comprehensive range of services, from 24/7 emergency care to complex procedures like organ transplants, leveraging a network of over 400 doctors across 30 specialties.

The initiative places a strong emphasis on maternal care, particularly through the Valliammai Women and Child Welfare Scheme. This scheme not only offers free treatment for expectant mothers but also provides a financial support package of ₹20,000 to assist with prenatal and postnatal care.

Nitin M. Nagarkar, the pro vice-chancellor of SRM, expressed the significance of the Subhiksha Health Card, stating, “This card is not just a benefit, it’s a promise.” This statement underscores the commitment of SRMMCH&RC to enhancing healthcare accessibility for vulnerable populations.
