Srinivas University Unveils New Central Research Laboratory
Srinivas University inaugurated its new central research laboratory on December 11, 2023, at the Mukka campus. The event featured prominent figures from academia and research, highlighting the significance of this facility for advancing medical and scientific research.
Enhancing Research Capabilities
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, the chancellor of Srinivas University and president of the A Shama Rao Foundation. He expressed his enthusiasm for the approval of the advanced research laboratory, emphasizing that it would greatly enhance student learning and research outcomes. “A basic laboratory becomes a place of service. This is a great opportunity for our doctors and researchers to innovate and reach heights as tall as the Himalayas,” he stated.
Dr Rao underscored the importance of continuous learning in research, saying, “Those who remain in research never grow old—research keeps you young and intellectually alive. Innovation is essential in medical science. Gain knowledge wherever possible, apply it, and strive to become leading scientists.”
Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor of Srinivas University, reinforced the idea that the new facility symbolizes the dawn of numerous innovations from students across various disciplines. “All the installed equipment is of the latest technology and will encourage creativity across streams such as biochemistry, biotechnology, and engineering. When technology and biology merge, groundbreaking ideas evolve. We encourage departments to work together and build collaborative innovations,” he noted.
A Hub for Innovation
The chief guest, Dr V L Papineni, PhD, founder-president of BBC Cure at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the USA, referred to the new research lab as a “temple of innovation.” He highlighted the importance of hands-on experience for the next generation of researchers. “Many Indians go abroad and contribute significantly to global research; students here must treat these instruments as personal assets and gifts for the future. Share your innovations and inspire the next generation,” he advised.
Dr Suchetha Kumari N, director of research and development at Srinivas University, elaborated on the central research laboratory’s role in fostering scientific curiosity and advanced research practices among students and faculty. She stated that the facility would provide hands-on exposure to sophisticated instruments, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and nurture a robust research culture within the institution.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Prof K Satyanarayana Reddy, vice-chancellor; Dr Anil Kumar, registrar; and Dr David Rosario, medical superintendent of Srinivas Hospital, among others. The ceremony began with a welcome address by Dr Uday Kumar Rao, dean of the Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (SIMS&RC), and was compered by Dr Vrindha J Bhat, professor and head of the forensic medicine department.
Additionally, five online international journals were formally released during the ceremony, marking another academic milestone for Srinivas University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Divya Rane.
