The KIET Group of Institutions has been officially elevated to deemed university status, as announced by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh during the launch of InnoTech ’25 on Friday. This significant recognition aligns with the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship within the educational sector.
In his opening remarks, Dr Singh unveiled the event logo for InnoTech ’25, highlighting the initiative’s alignment with the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. He emphasized that the event underscores India’s expanding innovation landscape and its growing prominence in the global science and technology arena. Addressing an audience that included students, faculty, researchers, and industry leaders, he remarked, “InnoTech ’25 is a celebration of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, which is visible all over the country and most prominently in KIET’s campus today.”
Government Support and Research Initiatives
Dr Singh acknowledged the crucial role played by institutions like KIET in advancing scientific research and innovation. He recognized the support from various governmental bodies, including the Department of Science & Technology, the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Department of Biotechnology, which have contributed significantly to elevating standards in research and education.
During the event, he highlighted prominent government research initiatives such as the VAIBHAV Fellowship and the BIRAC programme, both aimed at fostering collaborative scientific advancements. These initiatives are designed to promote joint efforts between academia and industry, ensuring that innovative ideas translate into practical applications.
Engaging with the start-up founders present, Dr Singh encouraged young innovators to propose ideas that could help shape India’s technological future. His call to action resonated strongly with the event’s theme, reflecting the importance of collaborative innovation in driving economic development.
Industry Perspectives and Collaboration
The event also featured insights from leading industry figures, including Namita Singhai, Vice President and Global Delivery Leader at Wipro, and Dr Prabhat Manocha, Associate Director for India/South Asia at IBM. Both emphasized the necessity for enhanced collaboration between industry and academic institutions to meet the growing demands of the technology sector.
Singhai noted that partnerships between educational bodies and businesses are essential for nurturing talent and developing solutions that address real-world challenges. Dr Manocha echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of aligning educational outcomes with industry needs to ensure that graduates are equipped for the evolving job market.
As InnoTech ’25 continues, it promises to be a pivotal platform for showcasing innovation and fostering collaboration among students, researchers, and industry leaders. The event not only marks a significant milestone for the KIET Group of Institutions but also exemplifies India’s commitment to enhancing its position as a leader in global scientific and technological innovation.
