EDII-ABIRF Launches Digital Marketplace Awareness Program

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India and the Anna Business Incubation Research Foundation (EDII-ABIRF) conducted an awareness program focused on the EDII’s initiatives in Tamil Nadu and its new e-marketplace on March 15, 2024. The event took place at Anna University in Tiruchi and attracted a diverse audience, including entrepreneurs, student innovators, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and ecosystem enablers.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about various government schemes, innovation support, and the potential of digital marketplaces. District programme managers from Perambalur, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai, and Karur facilitated a masterclass that emphasized entrepreneurship, design thinking, and orientation to the EDII TN E-Marketplace.
R. Ambalavanan, the director of EDII TN, announced plans for the launch of a mobile application for the EDII TN e-Marketplace. The existing web portal, which can be accessed at https://marketplace.editn.in, has already onboarded 222 sellers, offered 375 products and services, and facilitated 72 buyer interactions since its launch in July 2023.
In his opening remarks, C. Shunmugaraj, the state programme manager for EDII TN, highlighted the role of initiatives like the Innovation Voucher Programme (IVP) in empowering MSMEs and startups. The event also recognized winners of the IVP, who received support from three Knowledge Partners in the Tiruchi region.
The gathered students and faculty showcased innovative projects that included plant-based eggs, drone propulsion systems, banana crop technologies, zero-waste exam pads, eco-friendly crop protection measures, and assistive technologies. The total funding sanctioned for these projects exceeded ₹30 lakh, underscoring the commitment to fostering innovation in the region.
T. Senthilkumar, dean and nodal officer of EDII-ABIRF, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and support for emerging entrepreneurs. The program aimed to not only inform but also inspire the next generation of innovators in Tamil Nadu.
By connecting local startups with available resources and support mechanisms, EDII-ABIRF is paving the way for enhanced entrepreneurial growth and economic development in the state.
