RJD Accuses BJP of Betrayal Ahead of Bihar Elections 2025

As the Bihar assembly elections approach in 2025, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Kumar Jha has made strong accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suggesting that the party is planning to betray Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking to the media on Monday, Jha underscored a growing rift within the ruling coalition, stating that despite Kumar’s portrayal of the BJP as an “elder brother,” the relationship has been undermined by the BJP’s actions.
Jha’s comments come as the RJD assesses the political landscape, claiming that the BJP coalition, identified as BJP+, will secure 142 seats, while the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) is projected to win only 101 seats. He emphasized that the role of the “big brother” in the alliance has been “meticulously destroyed” by the BJP’s own members.
In a related statement, fellow RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari echoed concerns about the stability of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Tiwari claimed that the BJP’s strategy involves systematically diminishing the influence of smaller parties, including the JDU. He asserted that the BJP plans to eliminate the JDU and take over the Chief Minister’s position, which would significantly alter the political dynamics in Bihar.
Tiwari pointed out that the demands of leaders like Jitan Babu Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha for additional seats have gone unmet, indicating a shift in power within the NDA. He suggested that the BJP’s approach is designed to consolidate its power by sidelining smaller coalition partners.
In a bid to counter the BJP’s narrative, Tiwari also highlighted the RJD’s commitment to providing employment, stating that Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, has pledged a job for every household. He reassured supporters that the RJD’s seat-sharing formula within the Mahagathbandhan is nearly finalized and will be announced shortly.
NDA’s Seat Sharing Strategy
On the other side, the NDA has already disclosed its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming elections. According to reports, both the BJP and JDU will contest 101 seats each, while the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will field candidates in 29 seats. Additional allocations include 6 seats each for the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).
The upcoming elections are critical for the political future of Bihar, with both the RJD and NDA gearing up for a contentious battle. As the landscape evolves, the actions and alliances formed in the coming weeks will shape the state’s governance for years to come.
With tensions running high and strategies unfolding, the political climate in Bihar remains dynamic. The RJD is positioning itself as a formidable contender, while the NDA aims to maintain its foothold amidst allegations of betrayal and internal discord.
