Bihar Elections 2025: NDA and Mahagathbandhan Clash Over Promises
The upcoming Bihar elections, set for **November 6** and **November 11, 2025**, represent a crucial moment for political parties in the region. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the **Bharatiya Janata Party** (BJP) and the **Janata Dal (United)**, faces significant competition from the **Mahagathbandhan**, an opposition coalition led by the **Rashtriya Janata Dal** (RJD) and the **Congress Party**. With the results slated for **November 14**, voters will have the opportunity to assess the promises made by both alliances.
Voter engagement is essential in holding leaders accountable and making informed choices. To facilitate this process, it is vital to examine the key promises laid out by both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan as they seek to secure the confidence of the electorate.
NDA’s Promises for Bihar
The NDA has outlined a series of ambitious commitments aimed at enhancing economic growth and social welfare:
1. **Employment**: The NDA plans to create **one crore** government jobs and establish mega skill centres in each district, alongside the development of **100 MSME parks**.
2. **Women Empowerment**: Their manifesto includes a women’s employment scheme, which promises financial assistance of up to **₹2 lakh** for women. Additionally, the initiative aims to transform **one crore** women into Lakhpati Didis, with the overarching goal of making women entrepreneurs financially successful.
3. **Education**: To improve educational access, the NDA pledges **₹2,000** per month for all Scheduled Caste (SC) students in higher education. Furthermore, they aim to provide free education from kindergarten to postgraduate levels for students from economically disadvantaged families.
4. **Agriculture**: The NDA intends to invest **₹1 lakh crore** in agricultural infrastructure and modernize **3,600 km** of railway tracks. Additionally, the **Kisan Samman Nidhi** assistance will increase from **₹6,000** to **₹9,000**.
5. **Development**: Promises include the construction of **50 lakh** new permanent houses, free ration distribution, and social pensions. Plans are also in place for establishing a world-class Medicity and medical colleges in every district.
Mahagathbandhan’s Manifesto Promises
In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan presents its vision focusing on social justice and economic reforms:
1. **Employment**: The coalition pledges that within **20 days** of forming the government, at least one member of every family will receive a government job. They aim to create **1.25 million** jobs during their tenure.
2. **Women Empowerment**: The Mahagathbandhan proposes to provide women with **₹2,500** per month under the **Mai-Bahin Maan Yojana**, alongside **₹30,000** annually for five years.
3. **Education**: Promises include unemployment allowances of **₹2,000** for graduates and **₹3,000** for post-graduates, along with the establishment of a uniform school system.
4. **Agriculture**: Farmers would be guaranteed the purchase of all crops at the minimum support price, with provisions for **10 hours** of free electricity daily for farming and the establishment of cold storage facilities at the district level.
5. **Development**: The Mahagathbandhan’s **Han Swasthaya Suraksha Yojana** aims to provide free insurance up to **₹25 lakh** for individuals below the poverty line, along with free medical check-ups and medications in government hospitals.
The NDA focuses on continuity and governance, while the Mahagathbandhan emphasizes transformative change through social justice and economic reforms. As the election date approaches, the people of Bihar will ultimately determine which alliance’s vision aligns best with their aspirations for growth, stability, and progress in the years to come.
