Stock Broker Kalpesh Tundia Dies by Suicide in Ahmedabad Incident

A tragic incident unfolded in Ghuma, Ahmedabad late on March 15, 2024, when stock broker Kalpesh Tundia, aged 41, took his own life at his residence. The incident occurred while Tundia was with his 14-year-old daughter, raising questions about the circumstances leading up to his death.
According to Omprakash Jat, the Superintendent of Police for Ahmedabad Rural, authorities received a report regarding the shooting shortly after midnight. By the time police arrived, Tundia had already been transported to a private hospital in Bopal, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Medical examination revealed that he sustained both entry and exit wounds to his temple.
The investigation has been complicated by the absence of the firearm used in the incident, prompting suspicion among investigators. “The absence of a weapon is unusual,” Jat stated, confirming that Tundia’s death is being treated as a suicide. The police have since launched an extensive search for the missing firearm, involving forensic experts and ballistic officers.
A significant piece of evidence in this case is a suicide note found by medical staff at the hospital. In this note, Tundia reportedly expressed his distress over an individual who had borrowed money from him and had failed to repay the debt. Jat confirmed that the note was written on a page torn from his daughter’s school notebook, which is now part of the investigation.
Witness accounts from Tundia’s daughter provide additional context to the events of that night. She recounted that her father mentioned two men were coming to see him regarding some business. Just prior to the incident, he assured her that they would go out for dinner later, as he had missed her birthday two days earlier.
Moments after the men arrived, the daughter heard a loud noise. Initially believing it to be a firecracker, she went to her father’s room, where she found him unconscious on the floor with a cartridge nearby. She immediately contacted her mother, who rushed home to take Tundia to the hospital.
As the investigation progresses, police are interviewing several individuals who had been in contact with Tundia in the days leading up to his death. The Bopal police have officially registered a case of accidental death and have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Financial Troubles and Gun Acquisition
Sources have revealed that prior to his death, Tundia was actively seeking funds to purchase gold bars. According to recovered messages from his phone, he was also attempting to acquire a firearm for personal use, despite lacking a valid arms licence. If the weapon used is found to be illegal, charges under the Arms Act may be filed.
As investigators continue to unravel the details surrounding Tundia’s final hours, the implications of financial stress and the search for a firearm underline the complexities of this tragic case. Handwriting experts will also be brought in to verify the authorship of the suicide note, adding another layer to the investigation.
The situation remains fluid as authorities work diligently to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking outcome.
