Indian Expat Wins UAE’s Top Skilled Worker Award, Takes Home Prizes
An Indian expatriate has achieved a significant milestone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by being named the top winner in the Outstanding Workforce category at the Emirates Labour Market Awards. Anas Kadiyarakam, who has spent 16 years building his career in the UAE, received a trophy, 100,000 Dirhams (approximately ₹ 2,414,500), a gold coin, an Apple Watch, and various other gifts during the prestigious ceremony.
The awards were presented under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister. The ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi and was attended by notable figures in the UAE, including Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who presented the honours.
Anas, originally hailing from Kozhikode, Kerala, currently serves as the Human Resource Manager at LLH Hospital. He shared the award with co-winner Abdullah Albriki, Head of Cybersecurity at Emsteel, in the Management and Executives branch of the Skilled Workers subcategory.
Career Journey and Achievements
Anas began his professional journey in the UAE in 2009 as an HR Executive at the LLH Day Care Centre. Over the years, he advanced through various roles, eventually becoming the Regional HR Manager, where he oversaw hospitals and strategic international projects for Burjeel Holdings. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly at the Mafraq COVID-19 Hospital, was instrumental in earning him the Heroes of the UAE Medal and a Golden Visa.
In expressing gratitude for the recognition, Anas credited his family and the leadership at Burjeel Holdings for their support. “This award is for them as well. Their encouragement made every achievement possible,” he stated. He emphasized that the recognition inspires him to continue fostering “healthier and more supportive workplaces where people feel valued and can grow,” reflecting his commitment to giving back to the UAE.
Anas described the award as a “milestone” in his career. He noted, “It felt like the country was telling me, we have seen your growth. The UAE’s private sector is the most dynamic place to learn, especially in healthcare.” He acknowledged that each day brings new challenges and opportunities, further motivating him to support the workforce.
Gratitude and Future Aspirations
Anas extended particular thanks to Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, the Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, and the management team for their trust in his abilities. “I got the chance to grow with my group. My special thanks to our Chairman Dr Shamsheer Vayalil and the management for the responsibilities entrusted to me, which helped me grow,” he remarked.
The recognition at the Emirates Labour Market Awards not only highlights Anas’s individual achievements but also underscores the contributions of expatriates to the UAE’s dynamic workforce. His journey reflects the potential for growth and success available in the region, particularly for those dedicated to making a positive impact in their fields.
