Accountant Loses Rs 24 Lakh in Fraudulent Flat Purchase Scam

A 34-year-old accountant from Ahmedabad has fallen victim to a fraudulent real estate scheme, losing a significant sum of Rs 24 lakh. The incident, which took place in Vejalpur, involved a deceptive flat purchase that left the victim with no property and no recourse for recovery.
The accountant, who has some involvement in real estate activities, was introduced to one of the three accused through a business connection. This initial contact led to a series of meetings where the trio convinced him to invest in a flat located in a housing project near the Vakil Saheb Bridge. They assured the victim that the necessary paperwork would be finalized promptly, creating a sense of trust that ultimately proved misplaced.
On October 28, 2024, the accountant transferred Rs 20 lakh via RTGS to the company’s account of the alleged fraudsters. Following this, he handed over an additional Rs 4 lakh in cash directly to one of the accused. Despite these substantial payments, the promised sale deed never materialized.
After several attempts to contact the accused, the victim received nothing but excuses. He reported that they became unresponsive, claiming they were preoccupied with other commitments. Feeling deceived, he decided to take action and filed a formal complaint with the Satellite police, accusing the trio of fraud and criminal breach of trust.
Following his complaint, the Satellite police registered the FIR and have initiated an investigation into the matter. The authorities are now working to trace the accused and recover the lost funds for the victim. As investigations unfold, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of due diligence in real estate transactions.
In light of this case, potential buyers are urged to conduct thorough background checks on real estate agents and verify the legitimacy of property deals before making significant financial commitments.
