Telangana Doctors Demand Action Over Salary Delays at TVVP
Government doctors in Telangana have voiced strong concerns regarding ongoing delays in salary payments for those working at hospitals managed by the **Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad (TVVP)**. The situation has left hundreds of senior doctors without their due salaries, causing significant financial strain and distress.
On December 25, 2023, the **Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA)** issued a statement condemning the state government for its perceived negligence towards the TVVP, which oversees approximately 180 healthcare facilities across the region, including area hospitals and community health centres. The association highlighted that the current administration, which came into power with promises of reform, has failed to address the long-standing salary issues faced by TVVP doctors.
The TGGDA expressed disappointment, stating, “When the Congress government assumed office, we welcomed them with hope that reforms would finally materialize and that TVVP doctors would receive a permanent solution to their salary issues.” Instead, the association noted that conditions have deteriorated, exacerbating the already challenging situation for healthcare professionals.
Many doctors employed under the TVVP system have not received their salaries on time, with the TGGDA emphasizing that the delay has severe repercussions. The statement pointed out that as of December 25, government doctors at TVVP hospitals had not received their salaries, which has resulted in financial hardship and increased mental stress for these professionals.
To address this recurrent salary crisis, the TGGDA has called for the **Telangana government** to transfer the TVVP from the Corporation system to the **Directorate of Secondary Health Services (DSHS)**. This move, they argue, would facilitate a more reliable payment system. The association urged the government to implement a permanent mechanism that ensures salaries are disbursed on the first day of each month.
The TGGDA made it clear that if these demands are not met, they are prepared to take further action. This situation underscores the urgent need for the government to prioritize timely salary payments for healthcare workers, who play a crucial role in maintaining public health services in Telangana.
As the debate continues, the TGGDA remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of doctors under the TVVP, emphasizing the essential nature of prompt salary disbursement in supporting the healthcare system.
