“One Million Youth to Join Namo Yuva Run for Modi’s 75th Birthday”

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has launched a significant nationwide initiative called the “Namo Yuva Run” to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s 75th birthday on September 17, 2024. This fitness and social awareness event is set to take place across 75 locations in India on September 21, 2024, with over one million young participants expected to participate simultaneously.
During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, BJYM President and Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya emphasized that the run aligns with the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat,” or Drug-Free India. Surya stated, “Over the last decade, under the leadership of PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, India has waged a successful campaign against drugs.” He described the initiative as a dual purpose effort, combining fitness with a broader mission to combat addiction, which he linked to threats against national security.
Each of the 75 locations will host between 10,000 to 15,000 participants, making the Namo Yuva Run the largest participative running event in the country. Notable fitness icon and actor Milind Soman has been appointed as the brand ambassador for this initiative. Surya expressed his admiration for Soman, calling him a role model for the youth and highlighting that Prime Minister Modi serves as the ultimate inspiration.
The BJYM leader connected the drug crisis to significant security issues, including narco-terrorism and cross-border smuggling. He noted that in the past decade, India has dramatically increased its enforcement efforts, with over 2.4 million kg of narcotics seized between 2014 and 2024, a stark increase from 360,000 kg in the preceding ten years. Surya mentioned that in the past year alone, authorities have seized and destroyed 1 million kg of drugs.
With the Namo Yuva Run set to commence on September 21, 2024, the event aims to unite young Indians in a synchronized call for fitness, discipline, and a drug-free future. The campaign not only promotes physical health but also seeks to foster a sense of responsibility and awareness among the youth regarding the dangers of addiction. The expected turnout of lakhs of participants reflects a growing commitment to these important social issues.
