Construction Begins on 100-Bedded ESIC Hospital in Ambala
The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has issued a land allotment letter for the construction of a state-of-the-art 100-bedded hospital in Ambala Cantonment. This facility, operated by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), will be located in Sector 33 and is expected to significantly improve healthcare access for insured workers and their dependents in the region.
The new ESIC Hospital aims to provide advanced healthcare services, ensuring that employees in the thriving Ambala Cantonment and nearby Saha Industrial Area can receive timely medical attention. The facility will feature a 24×7 emergency and trauma care unit, equipped with a modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU), thereby addressing critical healthcare needs in the industrial sector. Anil Vij, Haryana’s Cabinet Minister, has expressed strong support for the project, highlighting its importance for the local workforce.
Healthcare Services and Facilities
The planned ESIC Hospital will offer a comprehensive range of medical services through specialized departments. These will include medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology, and psychiatry. In addition to emergency care, the hospital will provide advanced diagnostic facilities, in-patient, out-patient, and day-care services to ensure holistic healthcare for its patients.
The establishment of this hospital is particularly crucial given the large number of workers employed in the nearby industrial areas. In emergencies, quick access to medical care can be lifesaving. The continuous care provided by the facility is set to alleviate the healthcare burden on local communities, enabling insured workers and their families to receive necessary treatments without undue hardship.
Project Status and Future Steps
Recent discussions during a high-level meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) have accelerated the project’s progress. The meeting focused on reviewing pending projects listed on the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal. Minister Anil Vij has been actively involved, coordinating with central government officials to ensure timely advancements in the project.
The hospital will occupy nearly 5 acres of land, with the cost of the land exceeding ₹12.84 crore. Following the allocation of land, the ESIC will proceed with the payment, and construction will be undertaken by the Central Government. Anil Vij emphasized his commitment to facilitate the project’s smooth progression, ensuring essential healthcare facilities are established for the benefit of the working class.
The establishment of the ESIC Hospital in Ambala Cantonment is poised to become a cornerstone for healthcare in the region, enhancing the quality of life for numerous families linked to the local industries. As construction begins, the local community eagerly anticipates the positive impact this facility will have on their health and wellbeing.
