Bengaluru Champions Heart Health with Manipal’s Innovative Initiative

Bengaluru is enhancing its commitment to heart health through the launch of the Guardian of the Heart 3.0 initiative by Manipal Hospitals. This program aims to raise awareness about cardiovascular health, motivate lifestyle changes, and empower citizens to prioritize their heart well-being. Coinciding with World Heart Day, the initiative promotes heart-healthy practices across the city.
This year marks the third iteration of the Guardian of the Heart initiative, which includes two notable campaigns. The first, known as Heart Shaped Traffic Signals 3.0, is in collaboration with the Bengaluru Traffic Police. Commuters will soon see red traffic signals transformed into heart-shaped symbols at approximately 40 junctions throughout the city, including notable locations like HAL, MG Road, Cubbon Park, and Brigade Road. These signals serve as a reminder for drivers to pause and reflect on the importance of taking breaks for heart health.
In addition, heart-friendly stickers and informative SOS QR code boards will be placed at various traffic police hubs across Bengaluru. The Bengaluru Traffic Police will further support the initiative by displaying messages on traffic poles, urging citizens to seek immediate assistance in emergencies, thereby strengthening community awareness.
The second campaign, titled Heart Live – Breaking Live from Bengaluru, features representatives from Manipal Hospitals engaging with a diverse array of individuals throughout the city. This campaign includes interviews with civilians, traffic police officers, pilots, cab drivers, fitness enthusiasts, and professionals from various sectors. Participants share insights into their daily lifestyles and emphasize the significance of regular health check-ups and heart-conscious habits.
Expert cardiologists from Manipal Hospitals are also addressing public queries and dispelling common myths related to heart health. This interactive approach aims to make heart health a relatable and accessible topic for all citizens, encouraging them to adopt proactive measures.
Through the innovative Guardian of the Heart 3.0 initiative, Manipal Hospitals strives to cultivate a heart-smart culture within Bengaluru. By combining visual engagement with community interaction, the program aspires to empower individuals to reflect on their heart health and take actionable steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
