Nakuul Mehta and his wife, Jankee Parekh, have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Rumi, on August 15. The couple announced her arrival through a heartfelt Instagram post on August 17, expressing their joy as they embrace parenthood once again. They are already parents to their son, Sufi, who is now adjusting to his new role as an older brother.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Mehta shared his excitement about the new addition to their family. “We are overjoyed to welcome her into our little world,” he said. He reflected on the unique experience of parenting, stating, “It’s always the child who chooses the parent, and one can’t help but feel immense gratitude that we get to do this parenting thing all over again.” He also mentioned that the emotional weight of being a father to a daughter feels particularly profound.

Life has already changed for the family in these initial days post-birth. Mehta described feeling almost dazed while working, as his heart longs for time with his family. “It’s been a couple of days only, and I feel almost dazed being on a set, pretending to get some serious work done whilst my heart craves time with the family,” he explained.

The choice of names for their children was made long before their births. Mehta noted, “We knew that Sufi, our son, would always have his Rumi. Long before either of them came into this world, their names found us.” This sentiment underscores the couple’s deep connection to their family.

Sufi’s reaction to becoming a big brother has been heartwarming. Mehta described his son as “over the moon,” excitedly sharing the news with everyone around him. “He can’t get enough of sharing with the world that he is an older brother now!”

The significance of the birth date, August 15, resonates with Mehta on a deeper level. He reflected, “I don’t know how to answer this without being a ball of mush! The first child, Sufi, was special. But being a father to a girl hits harder. Like a friend shared with us, Rumi was born on the cusp of India getting her freedom and Janamashtami.”

As the family embarks on this new chapter, Mehta’s reflections highlight the joy and emotional depth that comes with welcoming a new child. The couple’s journey into parenthood continues, filled with love and anticipation for the future.
