First Looks of ‘Thama’: Star Cast Unveils Spooky Avatars Ahead of Release

The anticipation for Aditya Sarpotdar’s upcoming film, Thama, has reached a new height with the release of the first looks featuring a stellar cast that includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Backed by Maddock Films, the film promises a blend of horror and romance, set to hit cinemas worldwide this Diwali.
Unveiling the character designs, Maddock Films shared Ayushmann’s look as Alok, described as “Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed” (Humanity’s last hope). The teaser announces, “The World of Thama drops tomorrow at 11:11 am.” This intriguing tagline hints at a unique narrative, as the film is said to offer a “bloody love story.”
Rashmika’s character, Tadaka, is portrayed as “Roshni ki ek hi pehli kiran” (The only first ray of light). Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal takes on the role of Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal, a character who “always finds tragedy in comedy.” Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s menacing character, Yakshasan, is introduced as “Andhere ka badshah” (King of Darkness). The first looks have generated significant buzz on social media, capturing the attention of film enthusiasts globally.
Exploring the World of ‘Thama’
Part of Maddock Films’ expanding horror-comedy universe, which includes successful titles like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, Thama aims to merge supernatural elements with an unconventional love story. Set against the backdrop of both present-day Delhi and the historic Vijayanagara Empire, the narrative follows a historian, played by Ayushmann, as he unearths secrets of vampire folklore.
Rashmika’s character is intertwined with the historian’s journey, serving as his love interest from the past. Siddiqui’s role as the antagonist adds an element of tension, as he seeks revenge. In an interview with the Indian Express, Sarpotdar emphasized, “Thama introduces Indian vampires, distinct from Western concepts, and creates an entirely new world with unique creatures and mythology.” He also noted that while the film stands alone, it will have subtle connections to the other films in the franchise, which will unfold over time.
Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Thama will redefine the horror-comedy genre in Indian cinema. With its rich storyline and engaging characters, it promises to be a captivating experience. As the release date approaches, further updates are expected, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.
