Actor Daisy Shah, known for her role in Salman Khan’s film Jai Ho, has recently shed light on her distressing experiences within the film industry. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Shah discussed two alarming incidents of harassment that she endured while working.

During a shoot in Dombivli, Shah recounted a moment when she was inappropriately touched while walking on the footpath. “I’ve had instances in Dombivli when I’m just walking on the footpath and a person just walked past me and he literally touched me very badly,” she shared. The crowded environment made it difficult for her to identify the perpetrator immediately.

Harassment Encounter in Jaipur

Shah also detailed a separate incident that occurred during a song sequence at a Haveli in Jaipur. When the shooting concluded, a rush of crew members surged towards the exit. In the chaos, she felt someone touch her back. “I did not see left or right, I just started hitting people behind me. Whoever I saw, I hit because I was very angry,” she explained. Following the confrontation, a local individual threatened her, prompting Shah to challenge the aggressor, stating, “Come face me bravely, why are you taking shelter in a crowd like a coward?”

These experiences highlight the challenges many women face in the entertainment industry, where they can be subjected to harassment and objectification.

Objectification in the Kannada Film Industry

In addition to discussing harassment, Shah addressed the objectification of women in the Kannada film industry. Reflecting on her time working on a Kannada film, she expressed her discomfort with how actresses are often portrayed. “During my off days, I watched TV, and in all the Kannada songs I saw, there was a particular actor, and in all his songs, either a fruit salad or a vegetable salad was being made on the heroine’s navel with close-up shots,” she revealed. This kind of portrayal, she noted, reduces actresses to mere objects within the narrative.

On the professional front, Shah’s most recent appearance was in the film Mystery of the Tattoo, released in 2023. Despite recent rumors suggesting she would participate in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss 19, Shah has dismissed these claims.

As the conversation around harassment and objectification continues to gain traction, Shah’s candid revelations contribute to a broader awareness of the issues faced by women in the entertainment industry.
