Amitabh Bachchan Celebrates Homemakers and Women Cricketers

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently expressed his admiration for homemakers, particularly women, in a heartfelt blog post. His reflections coincided with the triumph of India’s women’s cricket team over Pakistan in the Women’s Cricket World Cup, a match that showcased the prowess of female athletes on an international stage.
Acknowledging the Role of Homemakers
In his blog, Bachchan highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of homemakers. Drawing from his experiences on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17, he noted a recurring theme in his interactions with female audience members. “Sometimes on KBC, when I ask a woman in the audience what she does, she replies in a hushed tone, ‘I’m a homemaker’,” he wrote, accompanied by a mildly unamused emoji.
He encouraged women to embrace their roles with pride, stating, “Why say it in a subdued voice? No! Never say it quietly. Say it with pride — that you are a homemaker!” Bachchan underscored the significant responsibilities involved in managing a household, emphasizing that tasks such as caring for family members and maintaining the home are substantial undertakings.
Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Bachchan’s reflections extended to the COVID-19 pandemic, during which many men gained a deeper understanding of household dynamics. He observed, “During the Covid period, many men realised how much their wives handle at home — because they had to take on those tasks themselves.” This shift in perspective may have led to a greater appreciation for the work done by homemakers.
On another note, Bachchan celebrated the Indian women’s cricket team’s recent victory against Pakistan. Sharing a jubilant message that read “India jeet gaya” (India won), he proclaimed, “India’s daughters are the country’s greatest wealth.” This sentiment resonated deeply with fans, as the Indian team emerged victorious by a margin of 88 runs in the match.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Pakistan limited India to 247 runs in 50 overs. However, the Indian bowlers delivered a powerful performance, dismissing Pakistan for just 159 runs in 43 overs.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Current Endeavors
Currently, Bachchan is continuing his role as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, which premiered on August 11, 2023, airing from Monday to Friday at 21:00 on Sony Entertainment Television. For those who prefer streaming, the show is also available on SonyLIV.
In addition to his television work, Bachchan recently appeared in the Tamil-language film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. This film marked his debut in Tamil cinema and featured a star-studded cast, including renowned actors such as Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier. The film was released in 2024.
Through his words and actions, Amitabh Bachchan continues to inspire both admiration for homemakers and celebration of women’s achievements in sports, reinforcing the importance of both spheres in society.
