Motilal Oswal Shares Surge 4% Following Credit Rating Upgrade

On October 13, 2025, shares of Motilal Oswal Financial Services experienced a significant increase, rising nearly 4% in a generally weak market. The stock closed at ₹1,010 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), buoyed by the announcement that ICRA Limited has upgraded the company’s credit rating from [ICRA] AA (Positive) to [ICRA] AA+ (Stable).
The rating agency attributed this upgrade to Motilal Oswal’s robust market position and its proven ability to capitalize on sector trends. ICRA highlighted the firm’s consistent financial performance across market cycles and noted the operational synergies within the Motilal Oswal Group, which includes subsidiaries such as Motilal Oswal Home Finance and Finvest.
This rating upgrade reflects the group’s consolidated operations, demonstrating the strength of its shared management and franchise. In response to the news, Vishal Oswal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, remarked that the upgrade underscores the resilience of their business model.
Oswal elaborated, stating, “Our twin-engine structure of operating and investment businesses allows us to reinvest approximately 80% of cash flows to foster long-term growth.” He emphasized that the group’s seven integrated business sectors—including wealth management, institutional equities, and investment banking—are strategically designed to achieve sustainable growth through varying market conditions.
In the past month, shares of Motilal Oswal have increased by about 6%, while over the last six months, the stock has seen a remarkable rise of 58%. This upward trend reflects investor confidence following the credit rating upgrade and the company’s strong operational performance.
Market analysts suggest that the upgrade could further enhance investor sentiment towards Motilal Oswal Financial Services. As the firm continues to strengthen its position in the financial services sector, stakeholders will be keenly observing its next moves in an evolving market landscape.
