Minister Inspects Jatni Road Construction, Sets November Deadline

On November 3, 2023, Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan conducted an inspection of the ongoing road construction project linking Sundarpada to Jatni. During the visit, he emphasized the need for timely completion of the project, instructing contractors and departmental officers to finish the construction by the end of November.
Project Details and Expectations
The road measures 13.5 kilometers in length and is planned to be developed into a four-lane stretch. Minister Harichandan urged officials to expedite the construction process, highlighting the importance of this route for local connectivity. He expressed concern over potential delays caused by essential utilities such as drainage, sewerage, and electrification, which are often pivotal in road widening projects.
Accompanying the minister during the inspection were notable figures including Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, former minister Suresh Kumar Routray, and various engineering officials. Among them were Dhyanachand Nayak, chief engineer for roads, Manoj Mahanand, chief construction engineer for Bhubaneswar, and Sachin Sahu, superintending engineer.
Coordination Among Departments
Officials from multiple line departments and representatives from the contracting agency were also present, underlining the collaborative effort required to ensure the project’s success. The minister’s directive reflects a broader commitment to enhancing infrastructure within the region, aimed at supporting economic growth and improving transportation efficiency.
As the deadline approaches, the focus will remain on monitoring progress and addressing any arising challenges. The completion of this vital road is anticipated to significantly benefit commuters and local businesses alike, promoting better access to services and opportunities in the area.
