IFS Officers to Promote Odisha’s Industrial Growth Globally

In a recent meeting, Sampad Chandra Swain, the Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister of Odisha, emphasized the vital role of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers in showcasing the state’s industrial potential on a global scale. He addressed IFS officers Manoj Kumar Mahapatra, Amit Narang, and Gloria Gangte at the Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, highlighting their capacity to attract international investment and opportunities.
Leveraging Diplomatic Expertise for Economic Growth
During the interaction, Swain pointed out that IFS officers serve not only as diplomats but also as crucial facilitators of economic relationships that can benefit regions like Odisha. He expressed confidence that these diplomats could help create pathways for overseas employment for the state’s skilled workforce. “You can effectively promote the opportunities available in Odisha and encourage potential investors to tap into these prospects,” he stated.
Odisha has become a center for trained manpower, owing to its dedicated approach to skill development and technical education. Swain remarked that the ambassadors can significantly enhance connections between the state’s skilled youth and global job markets. He provided an overview of the government’s initiatives aimed at improving the business environment, notably the Odisha Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR)-2022.
This policy has introduced measures such as fast-track decision-making and a single-window system, which aim to simplify regulations and create a more transparent governance framework. Swain noted that these reforms are designed to attract investment and improve the overall ease of doing business in the state.
Enhancing Skill Development and Training
Swain also highlighted the extensive network of World Skill Centres in Odisha, which have been developed in collaboration with ITE Singapore. These centres aim to elevate the quality of technical training in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics across the state. By implementing modern training modules and adopting global best practices, Odisha is cultivating a workforce that is not only employable but also competitive on an international stage.
As Odisha continues to develop its industrial landscape, the collaboration between IFS officers and state ministries could play a crucial role in fostering economic growth and connecting local talent with global opportunities. The state’s initiatives reflect a commitment to building a robust foundation for future investments, supported by skilled professionals ready to meet the challenges of a dynamic workforce.
