The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is prioritizing rapid rehabilitation efforts following the devastating flash floods in Chashoti, which have left multiple residents injured and several missing. On March 15, 2024, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Government Medical College in Jammu to assess the condition of those affected by the disaster.

During his visit, Sinha received an update from medical professionals regarding the treatment of the injured. Currently, 16 individuals are undergoing care at GMC Jammu, where they are being closely monitored by senior health staff to ensure their swift recovery. The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach in treating the victims.

In a statement to the media, Sinha reiterated the administration’s determination to locate the 32 individuals who remain unaccounted for following the floods. “The Government stands firmly with the bereaved family members who have lost their loved ones. Along with relief and rescue, the Government of India and the Jammu and Kashmir Administration are working on ensuring quick rehabilitation of the families affected by this tragic natural calamity,” he stated.

Search Operations Underway

Search and rescue operations are currently being conducted at an accelerated pace to trace the missing individuals. The Lieutenant Governor assured the public that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are on standby to address any emergencies that may arise in the wake of the inclement weather.

As part of the ongoing efforts, authorities have issued safety advisories urging residents to take necessary precautions during this hazardous period. The commitment to support the community remains a priority, and the administration is mobilizing all available resources to aid in recovery and rehabilitation.

Local leaders and health officials are working diligently to ensure that all affected individuals receive the necessary support. This includes not only medical treatment but also psychological support for those who have experienced trauma due to the floods.

As the situation continues to evolve, the government urges the public to stay informed and adhere to safety guidelines. The focus remains on providing relief and restoring normalcy in the affected areas.
