The Election Commission of India has announced an extension for the submission of Standard Information Reports (SIR) in six states and Union Territories. Notably, this extension does not include West Bengal. The new deadlines provide residents in specific regions additional time to complete their submissions.

In both Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the deadline has been extended from December 14, 2025, to December 19, 2025. This change allows an extra five days for individuals to file their reports. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the deadline has shifted from December 18, 2025, to December 23, 2025.

Additionally, residents of Uttar Pradesh will now have until December 31, 2025, to submit their reports, a change from the previous deadline of December 26, 2025. The Election Commission has encouraged individuals in these states to take advantage of the extended deadlines and submit their documents without delay.

The decision to extend the deadlines comes as part of the Commission’s efforts to facilitate the electoral process in these regions, ensuring that all eligible voters can complete their necessary paperwork. The Commission emphasizes the importance of timely submissions to uphold the integrity of the electoral system.

As the elections approach, the Election Commission remains vigilant in monitoring the progress of report submissions across the states. The updated deadlines aim to alleviate any potential difficulties voters may face in meeting the requirements, fostering a smoother electoral experience.
