Production house Hombale Films and actor-director Rishab Shetty have called on audiences to respect the cultural significance of the Daiva worship depicted in their successful films, Kantara and its prequel, Kantara Chapter 1. In a statement directed at “cinephiles and the global audience,” the creators emphasized that the practice of Dhaivaradhane—central to the films—represents a vital aspect of faith and cultural pride in Tulunadu, a region along the coast of Karnataka.

The statement underlined the filmmakers’ intention to portray Dhaivaradhane with the utmost respect, expressing gratitude for the positive reception the films have received. “Our films were created with the purpose of respectfully portraying this devotion and celebrating the glory of the Daivas,” the statement read. In light of recent incidents, Hombale Films expressed concern over individuals mimicking Daiva characters and engaging in disrespectful behavior in public settings. “We have observed that certain individuals have been imitating the Daiva characters from the movie and engaging in inappropriate behavior in public spaces and gatherings,” the statement continued. The filmmakers clarified that Dhaivaradhane is steeped in deep spiritual tradition and is not meant for casual imitation or performance.
