Jason Bateman to Direct Tom Holland in Grisham’s ‘The Partner’

Hollywood actor and director Jason Bateman will take the helm for the film adaptation of John Grisham‘s bestselling novel, The Partner. The movie will feature Tom Holland in the lead role of a junior attorney who orchestrates his own death to embezzle $90 million from a dubious client, as reported by Variety.

The project is produced by Universal Pictures, which has recently assumed development responsibilities for The Partner after it transitioned from New Regency. Bateman, known for his directorial work on films such as Bad Words and The Family Fang, will also serve as an executive producer on this project.

Holland is not only set to star but will also produce the film through his production company, Billy 17, in collaboration with his brother Harry Holland and producer Will South. Additional producers include Jonathan Eirich of Rideback and Michael Costigan from Aggregate Films.

Originally published in February 1997, The Partner has been a significant title for Grisham, making it a sought-after project in Hollywood. The film adaptation has been in development for several years. At one point, John Lee Hancock was attached to direct before the project moved to Universal Pictures.

The production will be overseen by Ryan Jones, Senior Vice President of Production Development at Universal, along with Jacqueline Garell, Director of Production Development. Both executives will play crucial roles in bringing this high-stakes story to life.
