PM Modi Pens Foreword for Giorgia Meloni’s Autobiography Launch
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, titled “I Am Giorgia – My Roots, My Principles.” The book, set to be published by Rupa Publications, is scheduled to launch soon. In his foreword, Modi describes the memoir as “Her Mann Ki Baat,” a phrase that reflects its deeply personal nature and highlights Meloni’s resilience, patriotism, and leadership qualities.
In his commentary, Modi praises Meloni as a remarkable contemporary leader whose journey resonates with the people of India. He underscores her dedication to preserving cultural heritage while engaging on the global stage, aligning it with India’s own values. Modi expressed that it is an honor to contribute to the book, which serves as an expression of respect, admiration, and friendship between the two nations.
Exploring Themes of Leadership and Friendship
Modi elaborated on how Meloni’s life and political trajectory embody timeless truths related to courage, identity, and commitment to public service. He emphasized her belief in the significance of heritage, community, and the celebration of womanhood, which he views as fundamental to effective leadership. The memoir narrates a story of determination and perseverance, aiming to inspire readers across various generations.
According to a report by the Indian Express, Modi noted that his foreword not only reflects Meloni’s political journey but also highlights the deepening ties between India and Italy. He referenced Meloni’s state visit to India in March 2023, which marked the first high-level visit from Italy in five years and elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership. This new chapter in diplomatic relations emphasizes mutual respect for heritage, community, and tradition, which strengthens the bond between the two countries.
Highlighting Womanhood and Resilience
In his foreword, Modi drew attention to the theme of womanhood in Meloni’s autobiography, noting her perseverance in overcoming challenges as a female leader. He highlighted her focus on motherhood, resilience, and determination, praising how her experiences inspire both men and women worldwide. Modi pointed out that Meloni’s narrative reflects broader values of courage and inclusive leadership, resonating deeply with Indian audiences.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the international popularity of Meloni’s memoir. Notably, the US edition was released in June 2025, featuring a foreword by Donald Trump Jr., which celebrated her working-class roots. Modi concluded that Meloni’s autobiography exemplifies a blend of tradition, modernity, and personal conviction, thereby strengthening the cultural and diplomatic ties between India and Italy.
As the launch date approaches, the memoir promises to serve as both an inspiring personal account and a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations, reflecting their shared values and commitment to leadership grounded in principle and patriotism.
