Friends recounted that he frequently expressed his disdain, even during social gatherings. “He got this whole fascination with Mormons, and they are the Antichrist, and they are going to take over the world,” said Francis Tersigni, Peter’s twin brother, reflecting on Sanford’s remarks at a wedding.

His friends noted that after the relationship ended, his obsession with the community grew, leading him to speak about Mormons incessantly. These troubling patterns of behavior culminated in the violent attack that has shocked the local community.
