Kerala Launches Rs 100 Crore Food Processing Hub in Angamaly

Kerala has officially launched a significant initiative aimed at enhancing its industrial landscape with the establishment of a food processing and life sciences manufacturing facility in Angamaly. On Sunday, P Rajeev, the Kerala Industries Minister, laid the foundation stone for this ambitious project, which represents the state’s first integrated hub for food processing and life sciences.
The ceremony, which included a traditional bhoomi pooja, marked the beginning of a facility that will merge various essential operations, including cold storage, warehousing, research and development, logistics, and the handling of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). According to a statement from RCC Nutrafill, the project is designed to bolster Kerala’s position in these burgeoning sectors.
Commitment to Innovation and Job Creation
During the launch, Minister Rajeev highlighted the project’s significance as a reflection of Kerala’s dedication to industrial growth powered by innovation and advanced technology. He emphasized the government’s unwavering support for Nutrafill’s vision and expressed optimism that this facility would set a new standard for innovation, quality, and sustainable manufacturing.
The facility is set to occupy five acres and is projected to complete its first phase within a span of 24 months. The total investment for the project is approximately Rs 100 crore, which is expected to create around 500 direct and indirect jobs across two phases.
Sai Devarajulu Prasad, Director of RCC Nutrafill, expressed gratitude to the Kerala government for its endorsement of the project. He characterized the facility as a pivotal step in reinforcing the region’s presence in the food processing and life sciences industries. Prasad stated, “Our focus is on creating local employment, fostering skill development, and contributing to Kerala’s economic growth by supporting sustainable innovation and building a lasting industry ecosystem.”
Strategic Importance for the Region
The establishment of this hub is not only a testament to the growth potential in Kerala’s industrial sector but also aims to create a robust framework for collaboration among various stakeholders in the food processing and life sciences fields. By integrating various functions within a single facility, RCC Nutrafill aims to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
As the project progresses, it is expected to attract further investments and partnerships, further solidifying Kerala’s role as a key player in the food processing and life sciences sectors. The initiative illustrates a proactive approach by the state government in fostering an environment conducive to industrial innovation and sustainable development.
With the groundwork officially laid, all eyes will be on the upcoming phases of development as Kerala seeks to leverage this facility to drive economic growth and job creation in the region.
