Yogi Adityanath Launches Vision for Uttar Pradesh’s Agricultural Future

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a transformative vision aimed at establishing Uttar Pradesh as a global agricultural powerhouse through the initiative titled ‘Viksit UP @2047’. This strategic plan sets ambitious targets for the state to lead India in crop productivity and agricultural exports by 2030, with a long-term goal of aligning with prominent agricultural nations, including the USA, France, China, and Australia, by 2047.
Integrating Innovation and Sustainability
The roadmap outlined by the Yogi government emphasizes the integration of innovation, sustainability, and scientific advancements across all agricultural sectors. It is built on six pivotal pillars: storage and value addition, processing infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, research and education, crop diversification, and the adoption of modern technology. According to Adityanath, the collaboration between agriculture and industry is essential for transforming Uttar Pradesh into a driving force for a developed India.
By 2030, Uttar Pradesh aims to achieve several key objectives:
– Become the leading state in India for crop productivity.
– Secure the top position in agricultural exports.
– Emerge as a hub for agricultural innovation and education.
The long-term vision for 2047 includes surpassing agricultural development levels of countries such as Mexico, China, and Russia.
Infrastructure Investments to Support Farmers
To facilitate these goals, the state is rapidly expanding its network of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), and mega food parks. Significant investments are directed toward developing cold chain systems, storage facilities, and food processing units. These efforts aim to minimize post-harvest losses and enhance the value of agricultural products.
Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural sector faced numerous challenges, including low productivity, inadequate storage facilities, and minimal technology usage. Over the past eight and a half years, the Yogi government has implemented a series of reforms, introducing scientific methods, bolstering local markets (mandis), and connecting farmers to contemporary agricultural infrastructure.
With this comprehensive strategy, Uttar Pradesh is not only advancing farmer welfare but also crafting a model for sustainable, technology-driven, and export-oriented agriculture. This vision stands to position the state as a benchmark in agricultural development on the global stage.
