Rohini Acharya has made serious allegations against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) following her recent resignation from the party. In a social media post on November 16, 2025, she claimed to have faced verbal abuse and threats of physical violence during her time with the party. Her comments come just a day after she publicly announced her exit from politics, stating that she has “disowned” her family.

In her post, Acharya detailed her experience, stating, “Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated. Filthy abuses were hurled at her, and a slipper was raised to hit her.” She expressed that her refusal to compromise her self-respect led to this humiliation. The timing of her allegations is significant, occurring shortly after the RJD-led opposition bloc suffered a substantial defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly election.

Family Ties and Public Outcry

Acharya highlighted the emotional turmoil of leaving her family behind, stating, “They tore me away from my maternal home… They left me orphaned.” She conveyed a deep sense of betrayal, emphasizing the emotional cost of her political involvement. The former RJD candidate from Saran also accused party members of accusing her of exploiting her father’s medical condition for financial gain.

In another post, she stated, “Yesterday, I was cursed and told I am dirty, that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in.” This alarming claim underscores the intense personal conflict she experienced within the party.

Acharya directed a message to other women in similar situations, advising them to consider their familial obligations carefully. “To all daughters and sisters who are married, I will say this — when there is a son or brother in your maternal home, never save your god-like father,” she wrote.

Political Fallout and Accountability

On the day preceding her resignation, Acharya shocked party supporters by declaring her political departure. “I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez asked me to do… and I’m taking all the blame,” she remarked. This statement indicates a fracture not only within her family but also within the party structure itself.

Acharya reiterated her grievances in a subsequent interview at Patna airport, stating, “I don’t have a family. You should ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out.” Her comments reflect a growing frustration within the party ranks and raise questions about accountability following the electoral defeat.

The RJD, a major political force in Bihar, has not publicly responded to Acharya’s allegations as of now. Her claims add to the ongoing discourse surrounding the treatment of women in politics and the often turbulent dynamics within political families. As the situation develops, many will be watching closely to see how the RJD and its leadership address these serious accusations.
