RCB Provides ₹25 Lakhs to Families of Chinnaswamy Stampede Victims
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) announced a financial aid of ₹25 lakhs for each of the families of the 11 victims who tragically lost their lives during a stampede at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This incident occurred on June 4, 2025, during the celebratory events following RCB’s first Indian Premier League (IPL) title victory.
In an official statement released on August 30, RCB expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Our hearts broke on June 4, 2025. We lost eleven members of the RCB family. They were part of us.” The franchise emphasized the significance of the victims to the community, noting that their absence would be profoundly felt.
The financial support of ₹25 lakhs per family is described as a gesture of compassion rather than merely financial aid. RCB stated, “No amount of support can ever fill the space they’ve left behind. But as a first step, and with the deepest respect, RCB has extended ₹25 lakh each to their families.” This commitment aims to provide some relief during this difficult time for those affected.
Launching RCB Cares Initiative
Alongside the financial assistance, RCB announced the initiation of the “RCB Cares” program, which will focus on long-term support and community engagement. The franchise emphasized that this initiative is meant to honor the memory of the victims and will reflect the sentiments of their fans. “Every step forward will reflect what the fans feel, expect, and deserve,” the statement added.
This tragedy has prompted discussions about safety measures at large events, particularly in sports venues. As RCB continues to navigate the aftermath of this incident, the franchise’s commitment to supporting the victims’ families marks a significant step in addressing the human impact of the unfortunate event.
As the community mourns, RCB’s actions aim to foster unity and remembrance, ensuring that such a tragedy is met with compassion and ongoing care for those affected.
