Rajinikanth Fan Creates 230 Figurines for Navaratri Tribute
Celebrations for Navaratri in Madurai took an extraordinary turn this year, as a dedicated fan of superstar Rajinikanth honored his idol in a unique way. Karthik, a passionate follower, created over 230 figurines depicting Rajinikanth in a variety of forms, including as Hindu deities, and arranged them in an elaborate bommai kolu at his home.
The kolu, a traditional display of dolls during the festival, featured a striking arrangement on 15 steps. The first ten steps showcased iconic images of Rajinikanth, while the remaining steps displayed figurines of the actor in various costumes from his celebrated films, reimagined as Hindu gods, including Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. A video released by ANI captures Karthik performing aarti to one of the Rajinikanth idols, surrounded by photographs and dolls representing different stages of the star’s illustrious career.
Devotion Takes Center Stage
Karthik shared his motivation behind the creation, stating, “In celebration of Navaratri this year, we have set up a special kolu in the Rajini temple. We consider Rajinikanth a deity, which is why we have placed dolls depicting him in divine forms. It took us two months to create this bommai kolu with 233 figurines.” This remarkable display is not only a tribute to Rajinikanth’s cinematic legacy but also reflects the deep devotion he inspires among his fans.
The kolu will feature special pujas performed each day over the nine days of Navaratri, which begins on September 22, 2025. Karthik’s creation underscores the blurred lines between cinema and spirituality, showcasing how Rajinikanth’s influence transcends the film industry.
As the fanfare surrounding this tribute continues to grow, it serves as a testament to the almost god-like reverence that many hold for Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu and beyond. This year’s Navaratri celebrations in Madurai have set a vibrant tone, highlighting the passion and creativity of Rajinikanth’s supporters.
