The body of Abhishek Varun, a bank manager who had been missing since March 24, 2024, was discovered in a well in the Beur Jail area of Patna on Monday. Authorities also recovered his scooter from the same well, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.

Abhishek Varun, who served as a branch manager at ICICI Lombard, resided in the Kankarbagh locality of Patna. On the night of his disappearance, he attended a family gathering in the Ramkrishna Nagar area with his wife and children. After the event concluded, he asked his family to return home while he opted to remain at the venue.

According to his wife, after they arrived home, she received a call from Abhishek, during which he stated he was on his way back. Later, at approximately 03:00, he called again to inform her that he had been involved in an accident. Following this call, his phone went silent, and his family was unable to reach him. Concerned, they initiated a search early the following morning, checking local hospitals and the surrounding bypass area but found no trace of him.

After failing to locate him, the family filed a missing person’s report at the Kankarbagh police station, which was recorded under FIR number 642/25. The police launched an investigation, dispatching teams to examine the party location and surrounding hospitals while reviewing CCTV footage to establish his last known movements.

The discovery of Varun’s body and scooter in the well prompted further investigation by local authorities. Officials have stated that they are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to shed light on the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.

As the investigation unfolds, the family and community are left grappling with the sudden loss of a man described as dedicated to his profession and family. Local authorities have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
